Ok you guys, I am SO in love with our rental house’s fireplace mantel. I’ve had mantels in the past, but this one is big enough to actually fit stuff on. Of course, the moment I walked in, I had visions in my head of decorating it throughout the seasons. Reality quickly hit though when I realized that Christmas just may be the only sort of seasonal decorating I do here. Yep, early Spring we are going to start our house hunt–our permanent house hunt. Moving is exhausting ya’ll and when you move to different states every couple of years, you get sick of it really fast. But we finally found where we belong!rustic christmas mantel

Anyway, back to that gorgeous mantel. Most people wouldn’t get excited about the dirty grungy looking brick, but I do. It makes me think of all the fires my dad would build in my childhood home, and how cozy it was curled up on the couch on snowy cold days with the fire crackling. Our Texas fireplaces were wimpy, and in Tennessee they were few and far between.

My husband hates when I decorate for any season, but mostly Christmas. He is very much a scrooge when it comes to Christmas. Because of this, I promised him I wouldn’t go crazy this year, and would keep my decorating to a tree and our mantel. So, with the help of Oriental Trading, that’s exactly what I did. Hey, I didn’t say I would go easy on the amount of decor on the mantel 😉

It’s hard to choose which items from Oriental Trading are my favorite. These cute reindeer are probably the winner in that contest. Who doesn’t love deer, and these guys are so festive with their little mini wreath.rustic christmas mantel

The jingle bell string lights immediately called to me, and are a great addition to the pine bough swag.

I picked up the skis at Target’s dollar spot last year, and the pine bough and berry sprigs all came from Hobby Lobby. The Christmas tree stocking holders are something I picked up several years ago after Christmas at TJ Maxx. They go with just about everything which is great!

And what rustic Christmas mantel is complete without a little bit of Buffalo Check? This cute little basket I snatched up at Target last year, and was pleased to see them out again this year.

I kept my chalkboard simple this season, much like my Fall chalkboard. I really loved how clean it looks with just a simple wreath or hanging. And this star lights up too!! It would look great on a front door, or just hanging on the wall as well. The burlap stockings are so cute, and very well made. Plus they look great mixed in with the reds and greens.

  1. I absolutely love your mantle Amanda! I am so jealous you got those keys in the Target Dollar Spot, I’ve been wanting some wooden skis.
