Welcome to Day 10 of the 12 Days of Christmas Hop! Can you believe we are almost done? That means December is just flying right on by and soon Christmas will be upon us. If you missed the last 9 days, you can start here and work your way back.

For today, it’s all about Christmas tables and this year I decided to keep it simple.

Our dining room is probably the least used room in our house, unless you count when we walk through it to the kitchen. We never eat at the table because we have developed the bad habit of eating in front of the TV over the years. What it does get used for is piling up mail, a perch for the cats, and a surface to iron on because what adult would purchase themselves an ironing board?

So since our dining room is rarely used, I didn’t want to create a very fussy tablescape. Simple and rustic are the words that came to mind, and thanks to my friends at Oriental Trading, I was able to pull it off.

Simple Rustic Christmas Tablescape

There’s not really a tutorial to go along with this, as the pictures are pretty self-explanatory. But the majority of the items used in this simple rustic Christmas tablescape were provided to me by Oriental Trading. I just love their selection of Christmas decor and actually had a hard time not going too overboard (remember my Hot Cocoa Bar? And don’t forget my rustic mantel from last year).

Perhaps my favorite things in this photo are the white pillar holders. They are so simple and purposeful, and I can continue to use them throughout the seasons! The best decor is the decor you can use for many purposes!

The wood slice as the centerpiece helps pull everything together.

I’m not one who uses cloth napkins, nor do I go all out with place cards. Instead, I saw these wood slice ornaments and immediately thought they were the perfect place holder!

You can write the persons name on the back, and then it not only serves as a place card but then your guest has a personalized ornament gift to take home after dinner! There are three different designs–a deer, tree, and Merry Christmas. Plus they look great on my tree too!

To add a little depth I threw in a few pine/pine cone sprigs in as well, flanking the centerpiece. The best part is there is still room for more dishes on either end of the table. You don’t have to move the centerpiece around. See? Not fussy!
