It’s hard to believe another year has come to an end. I thought in honor of the new year, and an end to my very first year of blogging, I would do a Best of The Kolb Corner roundup, to highlight some of my most popular posts of 2014.
Let’s start with January, February, and March:
January was my first full month blogging, having only shared a few posts prior to the beginning of 2014. I finished up my coffee table makeover, and showed you the best way to keep cilantro fresh. In February, I highlighted some of the ways I personally save money on pet care, and tips and tricks to meal planning. March brought you an entire series of organization, where I took you room by room and showed you exactly how I decluttered and organized. I also started making my own vegetable broth from scratch–and I haven’t looked back!
In April I started a whole series on couponing, because really, there is A LOT to learn! I also bought my first grapevine wreath and decorated it for Spring ( you can see my Fall and Winter versions too). This little wreath sure did bring me a lot of traffic from Pinterest! In May we celebrated hubby’s 30th birthday, and as per his request, I made this gorgeous NY cheesecake. Oh yea, we also started on this little journey called 30 Days of Real Food. It was just the beginning of a whole new way to look at food, and has been my most popular series to date! I even let you guys in on our grocery list and menu, by creating weekly printables for you to follow along with us. And, I showed you how to make your own taco seasoning (along with ranch dressing) from scratch.
In July, I upped the ante on our real food challenge, by giving myself a budget! You can see if I stuck to it here. I also paid a long overdue visit to my friend Veronica, and we had a great girl’s weekend, complete with Authentic Chicken Enchiladas, fancy appetizers, and thrift shopping. In August, I did my first ever freezer cooking day. Everything I made used only whole ingredients, and I was even kind enough to provide you with the menu and grocery list. I’m so nice right? *By the way, you can definitely count on a round 2 of real food freezer cooking* Next, I showed you how I made homemade granola, that sure beats buying it at the store. Not to mention, it has about half the sugar that store bought has. In September, I decided that since storing cilantro had been such a great hit, I’d go ahead and share with you how I store Spinach to keep it fresher longer. And, I made these delicious cheeseballs for a friend’s party. Yum!
In October, I participated in a Cookie and Dessert Sharefest, with the hosts of Merry Monday. One of the desserts I shared was this delicious Pumpkin Cake Roll. Then hubby and I built this upholstered bench together, out of our old coffee table. In November, I made these amazing buttery dinner rolls using my bread maching, and yummy Dark Chocolate Toffee Bars. Those bars really hit the spot! Finally, for December, I showed you exactly how I used PicMonkey* to hand address all of my Christmas cards. It takes a little extra effort, but the end result is well worth it! I also finally got around to sharing my hubby’s favorite recipe with you–Italian beef!
Wow, it’s been a busy, creative, wonderful, year! I had so much fun looking back at these popular posts and series. I’m excited to see what 2015 will bring.
