Brighten up your front door for the holidays with this easy to make DIY Christmas Buffalo Check Hoop Wreath that features a glittery Merry and Bright hand lettered focus!

I love making wreaths for different holidays, and of course, Christmas is my favorite holiday to decorate for. I made my first hoop wreath for Fall and decided I wanted to make another version for the Christmas season. Red buffalo check is still very popular this season, which is great because I may have gone a little crazy with it last season. This DIY Christmas buffalo check hoop wreath will fit in great with the rest of my decor!
DIY Christmas Buffalo Check Hoop Wreath

Things you’ll need to get started on your own buffalo check hoop wreath:
- 14″ emboidery hoop (or size of your choice)
- Buffalo check fabric (I used a napkin from Hobby Lobby)
- Siser EasyWeed glitter HTV in white
- Cricut Maker or other machine
- Weeding Tools
- Hand Lettered Merry and Bright cut file
- Iron or Heat Press
- Winter branches
- Red ribbon of choice (I used organza because I had some on hand)
- Hot glue gun/glue sticks
- Wire cutters
First, start by ironing out the buffalo check fabric (or napkin in my case) to get a smooth surface. Using the Cricut, cut Merry & Bright out on the glitter HTV. I personally prefer using the Siser EasyWeed brand because it is incredibly easy to weed (as the name suggests!).
Using an iron, or a heat press, press the HTV onto the center of the buffalo check fabric. Slowly peel the transfer backing away from the vinyl, flip the fabric over and press with the iron again to make sure the HTV is fully adhered.

Next, make a loop for hanging the wreath with ribbon. To do this, cut a length of ribbon and loop it around the outer embroidery hoop. Glue the ends together to create a loop. Then place the buffalo check fabric in the embroidery hoop and pull tight.

Using the wire cutters, cut the branches to the desired length and fullness. Then use hot glue to glue the branches in place on the hoop.
Turn the buffalo check hoop wreath over and cut the excess fabric away. Finish it off by placing a bow in the center of the pine branches (optional) and hang up on your door!

I think this Christmas buffalo check hoop wreath just may be my favorite one yet! What do you think?

Hi Leslie. These are just branches I picked up from Hobby Lobby when I made the wreath a few years ago. They were part of their holiday floral options at the time, but are not available anymore.

Hello! I cut it to fit on a 14” hoop wreath so I believe it was cut pretty close to 12” wide. It will really depend on how large the embroidery hoop is you use. I would make the decal 2-4” smaller than your hoop wreath.
