Happy New year everyone! We had a pretty uneventful NYE that ended up with both of us in bed by 10:30. Couldn’t even stay up long enough to see the our former time zone ring in the new year. Oh well, such is adult life right?
We had a very cheese themed meal for dinner last night. We still had a frozen stuffed crust pizza in the freezer and along with that I made a Cheeseball and some Cheesy Breadsticks from a recipe I found on Pinterest and this awesome blog. They were super easy to make and turned out great!
We did wake up semi early this morning and, after a big breakfast of bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and toast, we went for a 3 mile walk around a nearby lake. We hadn’t walked there before and it was nice to get a change of scenery. It was a little chilly at 40 degrees and the wind made it even colder, but Delilah loved it.
When we got back I checked the mail since I hadn’t yesterday. I love the anticipation of checking the mail–I’m always curious as to what is waiting for me there. Usually I am just let down by receiving a pile of bills–or in many cases the previous tenant’s mail–but today was a great mail day. I received this:
A gorgeous Burpee’s 2014 catalog to start off my planting plans for this spring/summer/fall. This will be my first time growing anything in a harsher summer climate, as well as in containers. I’ll let you all know how I do 🙂
In addition to my catalog, Delilah got a nice surprise as well. I forgot a few weeks ago I signed up for a FREEBIE from Hill’s Pet Nutrition–the makers of Science Diet.
It was for a sample of their new Ideal Balance Soft Baked Treats. Needless to say, I was very surprised when I opened the box and there was what appeared to be a full sized sample bag. Delilah LOVES them, of course. She even took the time to wait patiently with one on her nose for her mom to get just the right picture.
So far, 2014 hasn’t been too bad. Let’s hope it continues on that way! Here’s to finding joy in the little things–like free samples in the mail–enjoying the great outdoors, and bigger and better things in 2014!
