Office Makeover–The Reveal

Sharing with your friends!

Happy Friday ya’ll!!  I am so so SO excited. Know why??

Because TODAY is the day I am FINALLY showing you my final office reveal!!  And even better, today is the day I show you my first EVER room reveal!

Back in March I showed you my Office Renovation Inspiration Board, and gave you the low down on what I wanted for my office makeover.  Then I made you wait, and wait, and wait some more, while the projects slowly trickled in.

This project has seemed never ending for me because it always ended up taking a backseat when it came to other projects.  Since this space is just truly mine, I kept getting pulled away to do little things here and there in more communal spaces (like our dining room which is next up on the list to show you all).

But the wait is finally over, so let’s get down to it!

Since it has been so long, I thought I should show you again what my office looked like when I started this process.  I had just replaced my desk with a lighter, sleeker desk than the dark one I had before.  Luckily my husband wanted my old desk, so I was able to upgrade!

Even with the new desk, the space still lacked personality overall.

Well here is the space now, and I must say, it really shines through with my personality.

I am all about clean lines, and simple decor.  I really wanted a feminine, but chic, space that I could really feel inspired by.

Office Makeover 3

I’d say I achieved that in this office makeover.

My most favorite thing in this space is my transformed bookcase.  That wallpaper really makes it pop, and ties everything together, I think.  You can see how easy it was to create HERE.

I even used some of that wallpaper to recover my boring ol’ black file cabinet.  This was by far the hardest and most frustrating project I’ve done.  I know that really seems like a stretch considering how simple of an idea it is, but seriously.  I’m still so angry at how it turned out that I haven’t talked myself into sharing the story.  Maybe one day soon I’ll tell you all about the sleepless nights that thing caused me!

The absolute best thing about this makeover was that everything was done relatively cheap.  The most expensive thing was my desk–around $170–but I’d say I was able to do everything else for less than $130.   Most of the artwork and some of the accessories I already had on hand.

Now, let’s update that checklist I started with.

1-New desk I purchased this top, this storage unit and these legs from IKEA

2-New desk chair

3-Replace black open bookshelf, with white closed bookcase.  See it HERE

4-Build a craft/sewing table (because my desk just isn’t big enough for double duty)

5- Design a paper organization system  See them HERE and HERE

6-Artwork!

7-Organization using baskets, boxes, drawers etc. for all of my miscellaneous crafty things  See HERE

8- A large Pin board to keep my ideas, and brainstorming sessions neat and tidy   See it HERE

9-New computer–so this doesn’t play into design, but this is my office and a working computer is always a plus.

There are 2 things that I wasn’t able to do–yet.  I haven’t found the right chair for the space, at a price that I am willing to pay.  I could have made you continue waiting for the reveal until I found the perfect chair, but knowing me, you all would be waiting a long time!

I also did not build a craft/sewing table, because with my new computer being a laptop, I found that I can easily move my monitor and computer to a different spot, and have plenty of space to work.  Maybe in the future we will build that craft table but only time will tell.

I’d love to hear what you think about my office makeover, so be sure to leave a comment below!  My readers’ feedback means the world to me!

    1. Aww thank you Rachel! Next time I post a room inspiration board, I think I’m going to make sure that the room is almost finished first lol. This took way to long to come together!

  5. Love your office “redo”. The new color scheme is so fresh and bright (and more “you”). I read that wallpapering the file cabinet was a trial, but definitely worth it. The wallpaper there and backing the shelves is beautiful!

  6. I am obsessed with your office space! I’ve been house hunting with my fiancé and am so excited to finally get an office space to myself in the new house. I’ve been wanting to do white furniture with bookshelves and gold accents. Definitely pinning yours for inspiration! Where did you find that desk?

    1. Good luck on the house hunt Jenna! How exciting. And thank you so much for checking out my space!! The desk is actually from Ikea–one I “built” myself, meaning you can mix and match the legs/bases/tops to get something you love.
