When my husband and I moved to Texas I got rid of almost every last piece of Christmas decor. It was a sad day when I watched the garage sale masses swoop down on all of my holiday goodies, but it was necessary. After all, when you have to fit your whole life in a U-haul, you need to make sure to only take the important things.

One good thing did come from selling all of my holiday decor–I got to start from scratch! The bad news–it’s hard to build up your supply when you’re living life on a budget. There’s just no way to justify going crazy on decor that only stays up 4- 6 weeks of the year. Dining Room

For this year’s Christmas dining room tour I got creative, but kept things simple. Everything I used I either made, bought marked down after Christmas last year, or had managed to miraculously hide from my husband when we moved. I did purchase a few items this year from Target, Dollar Tree, and splurged a little on an artificial tree.

But seriously, what Christmas decor is complete without a tree (or a bunch of mini trees)?Dining Room towards tree

I stuck to a metallic/rustic theme, with some reds thrown in. I was really crushing on all of the red and plaid this season that I just couldn’t help myself. So if this tour is a mismatch to you, sorry (not sorry)!

See what I did there?
