With every new year, comes a time to look back at the current year and reflect on the moments we enjoyed, and think about the future. What do we want to accomplish next year? What are some of our goals, both personal and professional? I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you, my readers, exactly what my goals are for 2015. I’ve included 4 professional goals and 4 personal goals. I’m also giving you a sneak peek of what you can expect from The Kolb Corner this year.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and fun filled New Year’s. Here’s to a great year in 2014, and an even better 2015!
Blogging Goals for 2015
Be more active on Social Media
I’m not going to lie, Social Media seriously overwhelms me. There are so many algorithms to keep up with (think Facebook, and Pinterest’s new policies) that sometimes I just feel like it’s not worth the amount of effort I’d have to put in. But I will beat the monster. I’ll be focusing most of my time and energy on Facebook and Pinterest, because even though I have been slacking quite a bit as of late, I get most of my traffic from these 2 sites. Don’t worry, I’ll still be hanging out on Google+ and Twitter too, in case you follow me there.
Post consistently 4 times a week by keeping to a schedule
I was doing really great up until we moved at posting 3-4 times per week. I had set a schedule and planned out posts 2 months in advance. Then life happened and blogging fell to the wayside. I was even beating myself up pretty hard over the last 3 weeks because I really missed out on a lot of Christmas post opportunities. Well, this year will be different! I’ll be planning out posts for 3-4 months in advance, and sticking to my schedule.
Send out weekly email updates to susbcribers
This is something I just recently started researching. Until now I have just been using the basic JetPack plugin for WordPress to automatically send out new posts to my subscribers. I would like to start sending out a more personal weekly email, with that week’s post summaries.
Make blogging my full time job
I’ll be honest, I didn’t exactly start this blog with the hopes that it would be my full time job. The thought was always in the back of my head, but it wasn’t my ultimate goal. Over the last year, though, that thought has changed. I love working with animals, and learning new things in the way of veterinary medicine, but I’m actually really passionate about this little blog. I want it to succeed, and I know that it can. It will take a lot of work on my part (more than non-bloggers even realize), but it will be worth it in the long run.
Personal Goals for 2015
Stick to Real Foods
Both my husband and I have really gotten off track as of late. When we were in the process of moving, it was so much more convenient to eat out, or just buy a few quick items at the store, rather than take the time to prepare a meal plan or grocery list. I’ve even gone back to drinking soda. If you followed along with me on our 30 Days of Real Food Challenge, then you know what a struggle it was for me to quit drinking it in the first place. I can’t believe I was so careless to go back to drinking the stuff again.
Have professional family pictures taken
This might seem silly to list for a personal goal, but I have been telling my husband I want professional pictures done since we were married! The only professional pictures we had done was for our wedding. I would love to get some done with our puppy dog, Delilah. I had this grand plan to get pictures done for our anniversary each year of marriage–well we are going on year 4 and have yet to do it. No time like the present!
Take charge of my health
This was actually a failed goal of mine in 2014. I won’t go into a whole lot of detail, but I do have some health concerns that I have never addressed with a doctor. It’s time to get over my fear of doctors (and maybe a little fear of hearing the truth) and take care of myself. I only get one chance after all.
Learn more about and start using Essential Oils
This kind of ties into that last goal. I have been doing some research, and I have a friend of mine who is really into using Essential Oils who has got me interested. I’ll be getting my starter kit soon hopefully, and I can’t wait to learn all there is about oils.
What you can expect from The Kolb Corner in 2015
A fresh layout and design
I’ve been doing some research and getting feedback from friends and readers to see what needs changed. I’m working on new categories, navigation, and of course, amping up the pretty.
New recipes
I’ve been working in the kitchen some trying to come up with delicious new dishes to share with you. AND I’ve been sharpening up my photo taking skills with my new DSLR camera.
Weekly meal plans
The reason behind this is two-fold. I’ve had some readers ask for it, and this will also be a great way to keep me accountable for what I’m eating each week. I have been seriously slacking in the meal planning and grocery shopping department.
A Weekend Roundup
I’ll be sharing some of my favorite things I’ve been reading, pinning, sharing each week.

Love the honesty! I don’t think I could ever do 4 posts a week. Thats pretty impressive. My goal is to grow and connect more with other bloggers and readers. I do feel like i could do so much better but no idea how. Social media definitely overwhelming at times. I didn’t know you were in vet medicine. I used to be a vet tech a long time ago.
4 posts a week might be tough, but I can do it–as long as I stick to a schedule lol. I agree with wanting to grow and connect more with other bloggers too. Sometimes I get so caught up in getting my stuff out there, that I forget to comment, share, like what other bloggers are putting out there. That is another good goal for 2015.
How cool that you used to be a vet tech too! Small small world! Happy New Year Rachel!
Love your honesty! I also committed myself to posting at least 4 times a week. I really fell off at the end of last year and took time to evaluate what I wanted to accomplish in 2015 and growing my site is on the top of the list. I have started by creating a schedule and trying to develop new habits that will help it stick.
Good luck with all of your goals for 2015!
Thank you Sarah! Good luck to you this year as well!
My favorite one of your goals is to have professional photos made. We should do that. We’ve been married almost 18 years and have only done that once.
I do good to post 3 times per week on the blog, 4 would be ambitious for me. Happy New Year and good luck with your goals.
We are so glad you shared with us at the Home Matters Linky Party!
